ULI counts institutional partners, government agencies, and nonprofits as strategic partners in building thriving and sustainable communities worldwide.
ULI has received numerous grants from institutional foundations with an interest in sustainable development and best practices of land stewardship. ULI has also partnered with federal and state agencies and nonprofit organizations to offer compelling content on topics such as housing, infrastructure, energy efficiency, and transportation.
ULI thanks the following institutional foundations for their steadfast support:
to support a ULI forum entitled: Fostering Practical and Sustainable Land Use Policies that explored challenges for equitable economic development and identified new policy solutions. The Foundation has also supported ULI’s efforts to ensure low-income families benefit from public and private investments in transit-oriented development.
to support and develop an affordable housing and community retention strategy for the city of Atlanta.
to promote healthy approaches to real estate policy and practice that foster healthy outcomes for people in Colorado and around the nation; and encourage ULI’s real estate and land-use members to consider health when making decisions that impact the built environment.
To support efforts to shape local practice and policy, build cross-sectoral support for new and innovative approaches to parking management and transit-oriented development, and lift up and share exemplary projects and best practices in order to drive down greenhouse gas emissions in U.S. cities as part of the American Cities Climate Challenge.
To advance understanding of transportation strategies that can lead to strong and more equitable growth in greater southwestern Pennsylvania.
For a workshop for public officials on implementing sustainable development in the community.
To provide programming in four to six Knight communities that relates and connects the national results of our America in 2015 survey to localized data and regional trends for a greater understanding of community preferences and concrete examples of how these communities should plan for the future.
To support a publication authored by Henry Cisneros, Patrick Phillips, and Janis Bowdler that will be an important resource for people and communities seeking to catalyze social and economic equity in our cities and learn how modern cities can serve as engines of economic opportunity and social progress.
To support ULI’s participation in the 10 Minute Walk Campaign and enhance access to parks and nature, improve community resilience, and increase investment in equitable and sustainable transit and trail infrastructure.
To create resilient communities and promote energy efficiency to help mitigate the impact of climate change; and to promote vibrant urban open spaces through the Urban Open Space Award.
To support our efforts to promote best practices in food and real estate development. This funding will enable ULI to hold local programs and conduct targeted outreach that engage ULI networks in southern California and around the nation to support and leverage the growing interest in food-focused real estate development. We will also develop materials that will help facilitate “state of the art” community farming and real estate development projects.
To support a national conference and a new housing web portal to advance the initiatives of the Terwilliger Center for Housing and to support ULI’s energy efficiency efforts through the Urban Resilience Program.
to support ULI’s highest honor, the J.C. Nichols Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development.
To increase community resilience around the country, and accelerate adoption of resilient city-building by identifying practical approaches and sharing experiences from New York and other cities.
To help ULI expand our focus on health, strengthen our healthy corridors project, and improve health equity in real estate practice to leverage our network of members to bolster the focus on health throughout ULI and improve the health of all people.
To advance ULI’s work on transportation policy.
To support ULI’s efforts to build capacity in northwest Arkansas. With this support, ULI will increase our membership in the region in collaboration with our local District Council in neighboring Oklahoma to help promote responsible land use and advance more resilient land use patterns.
To support ULI housing initiatives, conference sponsorships, and the Young Leaders scholarship program.
